InDesign Place an Image

InDesign 'places' an image into a document - using the commands: File, Place.

There is no Insert Image command, as used in other programs, which is somewhat of a nuisance!

In placing an image it comes in usually oversized and you need to rectify this by using a corner of the image and the shift key to resize the image to the required size. This command can vary, on some keyboards you need to use the CTRL key instead. To check which key, try an image and the one that works for you is the one!

The outcome must be an image that has constrained proportions. That is sized without being cropped. To trim the height proportionally, just select the image and use one of the centre tabs. The width retains it's proportions.
