Locations

You need to plan where you are going to shoot your video.

There maybe several locations.

In this case you shoot all the sceens at location one, then move to location two. They can either be shot in sequence or shot out of order and changed later, in the editing process.

Scenes are shot as individual frames which allows movement of the scenes in the editing process. Then in order the individual frame files are arranged accordingly in the required sequence.

It is usual to make several 'takes' of the same scene, allowing for lines being 'slipped', or backdrop changes to improve the scene.

The shoot location may involve a green screen. (See green screening).

Location checklist:

If you are using the sound from the video, allow for 'outside noises'. There's nothing worse than a truck or bus grinding away outside your outdoor scene setting.

However if you are adding a sound track or voiceover - it does not matter what's happening 'outside', as the shot sound track is to be separated form the video track.

If outside - check the weather.

Also check the 'stage area' is free from unwanted debris and obstructions.

Ensure the location is permissible to use.

Ensure there are no 'distractions'.
