ICTICT302 - Install and Optimise Operating System Software (OS) on a Computer

In this module you will be installing an operating system on a school laptop.

The laptop has been unlocked, so that you are able to complete this task.
What is unlocked? It simply means that the laptop has been de-commissioned from the school network and is ready for 'out of school use'.

The operating system will be Windows 7 (or a substitute), as available.

The assessment tasks are shown within the two linked pages.

R.T.O. V.E.T. Assessment:

This task is assessed in two parts:

Software - ICTICT302 - Install and Operate O/S Software, ICTSAS301 - Run Diagnostics and ICTICT301- Create a User Manual.
&
Hardware - ICTSAS303 - Care for Computer Hardware.

For the software component R.T.O. Event 3, this involves practical installation of software, running diagnostics and finally Create user documentation.

For the hardware component R.T.O. Event 9, this involves two parts:

A practical - looking under the bonnet to ascertain if all is in working condition and the second - using a preformatted checklist auditing all the computer rooms to identify the working condition and software on every machine. There is a downloadable Word document for this task, as well as the checklist maintenance schedule.

Both tasks upon completion is to be emailed back to the the teacher or handed in in class on the teacher's USB, in the year folder, within the required assessment task 'due by date', to avoid loss of marks at 10% a day and a resubmit, with a covering essay about managing your own work and learning). For the due by date refer to the Lesson Program link, which is updated frequently to reflect (any) changes to the course program.

Both V.E.T. R.T.O. assessment tasks are to be completed after the final care for computer module - ICASAS301 - Diagnostics has been completed.
