Colouring in - Page Backgrounds/Table Backgrounds and Link Colours

Table or Page Backgrounds 'brighten up' your webpages and websites.

Though consistency is also important.

To use an image as a background is possible, but you must use a light fill colour so the table contents do not compete with your background. Go to the RMWebed Index Page (Home Page) to see an example.

It is not a good idea to use a dark background and then white or a light text, as this can cause readability issues and your content 'gets lost'.

To use an image as your page background. Go to Page Properties in the Properties Window. If it's not already open - Windows/Properties/Page Properties.

Click OK and your page is ready to be changed.

You will need to go back to the Properties window/Page Properties later to create your links colours.

In the dialogue window you will see the Page Properties Appearance has been set to Background Colour #96181A (tan) and the Text Colour to #681113 (brown).

If you were going to use an image for the background, it must be 1600px wide, so that it does not tile. When you add a table row, the colour should continue. (As is Edit Table Add a Row).

Also you will see the Margins have been set to zero. This is so the page does not have any margin issues.

But what about the table background colour.

This is set in the Properties window, using the Bg tab. Just click inside the table and using the Bg tab select the Bg colour you want, then click anywhere outside the Properties window to activate the table colour.

To change the Links colours and switch of the Links Underscore, go to Properties/Page Properties ad select the Links tab.

Here there are only two colours used: The Rollover links is different to the others. Select your two colours and then the Underline style, which you should set to Never underline, to avoid the links underscore.
