Create a Website in Dreamweaver

First you need to plan your website. Use a one page Word document to list the links needed and possible sub-links.

You are then in a position to create your template page, which is to be used to set out all your pages.

Open Dreamweaver and Create a New Document. Save this as the filename template.

The document should initially have three rows and one column and 900px wide, 0 cell padding and 0 cell spacing. Insert Table 3 rows 1 column. can be modified to suit each page, by using the Tab key to add a table row, or the Menu Command Edit Table Insert Row. Similarly you can add a nested table within a table and make it two columns, or whatever you require.

This is your base template and can now be copied all the linked pages names. No spaces though, for example Link Name 5 would look like this: Link_Name_5 .

The first row should have a header image or title image set at 900px wide. You can download an image, add text in Photoshop and this could be your header.

The second row is the links row with a nested table - that is all your main links + a Home (Index) Page. In this example the table is to have eight links. Select all the table content and centre the links names. The table widths are going to move, to house the link names.

Link Name 1 Link Name 2 Link Name 3 Link Name 4 Link Name 5 Link Name 6 Link Name 7 Home

In row three your individual page content starts. If you have images and text together, consider using a two column nested table. The table borders with the images have been set to '0' and in the browser look neat and clean.

Image here. The image must be no larger than the table width. However in this example with an image and text, the image should be no larger than roughly half the column width. In the example the image is 500px, as there is less text. Text can be dot points or short paragraphs. There is no fixed rule, but appearances really do count.

Place indented text here, in dot points, or short one sentence paragraphs, for ease of reading.

Because you are using nested tables (a tables inside the outer table), each table row can be different, as required. Here this row has one column only. The next row has two columns, in a nested table.

The Bayfront Gardens 'Gardens by the Bay' in Singapore by night.

The gardens are open from 5am to 2am.

They are lit up at night and the 'trees' actually change colour.

The gardens were built on reclaimed land.
