It is recommended when doing spreadsheets with a number of lines, that borders are selected for columns and rows, to make the reading easier and printing better.

The default is no border. This can be changed to borders on the part of the worksheet you are working on. Select the work area and Borders and the icon:

Colour Fills can also be applied, as in Word.
