Excel allows you to Fill column or row contents, by using the Fill command. At the bottom right corner of the active cell select it. A cross will appear. Drag the cross down to the end cell and release:

For instance - days of the week - type Monday and release six cells down and the days of the week will appear. Similarly you can make the months of the year, release 12 cells down.

Repeating a cell value.

Descending numbers. After releasing, click on the dialogue box and use Fill Series.
